Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

My Life Journey (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal data when you use our website and services at mylifejourney.co.uk.

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. By using our services, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Story content: The chapters, photos, captions, and messages you create and upload.
  • Order information: Delivery name, address, phone number, and payment details (processed securely via Stripe) when you order a printed book or subscription.
  • Usage data: How you interact with our site, including pages visited and device information, collected via cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and provide access to our services.
  • To store, display, and print your life story content as you instruct.
  • To process payments and fulfil printed book orders.
  • To send you service-related communications, such as order updates and account notices.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
  • To improve our website, services, and user experience.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract: To provide the services you have requested.
  • Consent: For marketing communications and non-essential cookies.
  • Legal obligation: To comply with tax and other legal requirements.
  • Legitimate interests: To improve our services and ensure security.

4. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and analyse site traffic. You can manage your cookie preferences through the cookie banner or your browser settings. See our cookie pop-up for more details on the types of cookies we use.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information with trusted third-party providers only as necessary:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (we never store full card details).
  • Lulu Press: Printing and delivery of your physical books.
  • Cloud storage providers: Secure storage of your story content and media.
  • Email providers: Sending service-related communications.

Who can see my story?

Your story is private to your account and is not shown publicly. Our administrators can access account and story content where necessary to operate, support and troubleshoot the service. When you create a Vault message for someone, that person receives only the message you addressed to them, when it is delivered — they don’t get access to your account or anything else. When you order a printed book, the content needed to print it is shared with Lulu Press, which prints and posts it. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your content is stored by the cloud storage providers used by the service. This summary doesn’t replace the full privacy policy above.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons. Printed book order records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to the processing of your data.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@mylifejourney.co.uk.

8. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption, secure servers, and restricted access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
